Black widow spiders come with a variety of markings! While the abdomen of the black widow has an hourglass red marking, its back can come in a variation of red spots or even spotless. Not only are they frightfully eye catching, but black widow spiders are also skilled weavers and create intricate webs to catch their prey. Unlike the symmetrical webs that many arachnids spin, black widows build irregular, messy-looking webs known as “tangle webs.”
